Issues Important to Joe Beckwith

Joe Beckwith has the Proven Experience to Lead Oakbrook Terrace to a New Day in Good Government

Restoring Public Safety & Trust by listening to our Officers and supplying them with proper support to succeed

  • Re-build our police department through years of low moral, not hiring and consolidating jobs and duties within the department. Staffing is down, only 2/3rds of the officers are working... increase our headcount to a total of 25 officers. Public Safety needs to be our #1 Priority.

  • Increasing services and programs including more community policing such as community service officer, school resource officer program, crossing guard, bicycle safety, neighborhood watch and community awareness meetings.

  • Keep our neighborhoods SAFE by hiring and employing the best police personnel and supplying them with proper Training, Technology & Qualified Leadership to serve and protect our families.

Community Programs and Outreach

  • We have many residents who want to be involved so lets involve them with focus groups and committees.

  • Restart the youth commission and a senior programs and use a community center to house both programs.

Economy & Budget. “We need to continue to look for new and creative sources for revenues and grants”

  • Use my proven leadership and management skills in government and budgeting to bring common sense back to local government.

  • Seek new revenue sources as I have professionally sought, secured millions of dollars in grant opportunities while fostering better intergovernmental cooperation between taxing bodies to best maximize your tax dollars.

  • Be Fiscally Responsible and use my experience in overseeing multi-million dollar budgets in local government to restore trust in our local government.

Economic Development and Beautification

  • Encourage smart development that considers the needs of all GENERATIONS and lifestyles and offers affordable options and services for seniors.

  • Encourage new revenue streams including retail sales tax producing destination businesses and enticing national brands to come to Oakbrook Terrace.

  • Create community beautification projects with enhanced entry ways into the different subdivisions and redo the streambank path adding more amenities and a better material for year round use.
